ELIGIBILITY
In order to compete, you must be between 19 and 30 (inclusive) on November 19, 2011. You must not be, and never have been, under professional management.
REPERTOIRE
Required Piece: Chopin Nocturne, Opus 27, No. 2 in D Flat Major
Audition Recording Requirements:
Three identical cassettes or CDs (approximately 15 minutes in duration) should include the required piece and one piece of your own selection.
Semi-Finals Requirements:
1. Required Piece, above
2.A classical Sonata (Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert, etc.)
3. Another romantic work, in addition to the Required Piece (any romantic composer, including another Chopin piece)
4. An Impressionist work (Debussy, Ravel, Griffes, etc.)
5. A Contemporary work
Finals Requirements:
The Artistic Director and the Contestant will select from the Contestant's Semi-Finals repertoire for the Finals concert.
NOTIFICATION
If you are accepted for the Semi-Finals, you will be notified of your acceptance during the second week in October. You will receive your Audition time assignments later. Semi-Finals are free and open to the public.
JUDGES
Distinguished musicians will adjudicate at all levels. JUDGES' DECISIONS WILL BE FINAL.
FINALS
The Finals will be a public concert with a jury. If you do advance to the Finals Concert, you will be notified between 6:00 and 8:00PM Saturday night. You must be available at that time to discuss your repertoire with the Artistic Director so that the Sunday concert program can be created.
DRESS
Please be prepared to wear appropriate concert attire if you are chosen to participate in the November 19 and 20 Public Concerts.
TRAVEL & LODGING
You are responsible for your own travel arrangements. Contestants coming from a distance of more than 60 miles can be housed locally. Local housing for others will be considered on an individual basis. All arrangements must be completed by November 7.
