The 2008-2009 Sunday House Concerts

House Concerts offer vibrant performances the way chamber music was meant to be heard - in informal and intimate settings in private homes. Since seating is limited, advance ticket purchases are required. Tickets for members and their guests are $25 for all ages.

To obtain tickets and driving directions, please send a check or money order made out to "Connecticut Alliance for Music," and mail it to 61 Unquowa Road, Fairfield, CT 06824. Please be sure to include a note explaining exactly which concert(s) you are interested in, the number of tickets you would like, your mailing address, and your phone number in case we have a question. If you have a question, please feel free to call us at (203) 319-8271 or email us at alliance.for.music@snet.net.

April 5, 2009 - Sunday 3p.m. - Scott Murphree, Tenor
Westport, Connecticut

Tenor Scott Murphree and pianist Grant Wenaus are going to present a very special concert for us, one that is not often heard. The beautiful song cycle, "Die Schone Mullerin," is one of Schubert's most famous works and to hear it in the intimacy of a private home will be a musical treat.

Scott Murphree has sung Handel's "Messiah" with the Oratorio Society of New York in Carnegie Hall and the Ntional Chorale in Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center. Other recent engagements include a concert of Bach cantatas with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Britten's War Requiem and the Mozart Requiem.

He and Dr. Wenaus, his accompanist, are both on the faculty at New York University.
