The Outreach Program

Since 1993, The Outreach Program, funded by private donors, has brought classical music in various forms into the inner-city schools of Bridgeport, Connecticut. We present several musical artists who have a gift for working with youngsters. Gregory Rahming, from the Broadway cast of “Phantom of the Opera,” sings his way through a one-man opera show, while (formerly shy) students are eager to come up on stage and act out the story as it is explained to them.

Members of the New York City string group The Amsterdam Ensemble coach middle and high school string students and help them discover that they are capable of much more than they think they are. "Young Audiences," an organization in New Haven, has also been a resource for artists and performers.

More performances have been added every year, and thousands of students of all ages have been reached.

Baritone Gregory Rahming brings students onstage to help him act out "The Marriage of Figaro " as he sings the familiar arias.
Students clamour to become part of the show.
