The 2007 Leon Tec Showcase for Outstanding Young Musicians

The Leon Tec Showcase is an annual concert providing selected, gifted Connecticut high school musicians the opportunity to perform professionally, coached by a distinguished musician and by the artistic director for the event.

The 2007 Showcase took place on Friday, October 19, at 8:00 p.m. at The Unitarian Church in Westport, 10 Lyons Plains Road. The concert featured Schubert’s Trout Piano Quintet played by:  Madeleine Wething, violinist, Nora Murphy, violinist, Dennis Caravakis, bassist, Gabe Beckerman, cellist, Mark Tondi, pianist.  Guest artist:  Darwin Shen (former TEC Showcase performer), violinist.

We are very grateful to Dr. Leon Tec of Westport and his wife, Nechama, who established and underwrite this concert in memory of Dr. Tec's parents, Sarah and Boris Tec. We are also indebted to Sandra Shaw Murphy, who was again our volunteer artistic director for this event, and to master coach, Wendy Sharp.
